The UK-Team Tip for X-Mas: Mince pies with perfect flaky pastry

Denholm, Chris and Kiran focus on the essential tastes of the Christmas season, Mince Pie is one of them for all three. Find out their secret tip for preparing!

The team

Denholm (on the left) has been at StockFood in two stints, from February to September 2015 and then from May 2017 onwards. Starting as a humble intern, he now works as Account Executive, looking after the existing clients and reaching out to new business opportunities. In his spare time, he is a practicing food photographer – so most his time is spent licensing, photographing or eating food.

Chris (in the middle) joined StockFood in May 2016 as General Manager, a very broad role with general responsibility for the running of their small office. He lives in London with his wife Emma, two children and two cats. He enjoys dining out – especially Indian cuisine. He also likes going to football matches, live music performances and long walks.

Kiran (on the right) joined the StockFood Team UK as an Account Executive in January 2018 and looks after most of the editorial clients alongside with other jobs! In her spare time she also likes to draw and do artistic things. She enjoys spending time with family and friends; socializing and going out for food is always a win for her.

Their Christmas tip

For Kiran, Chris and Denholm Mince pies are the quintessential taste of Christmas, with warming spices and buttery pastry.

It’s the perfect way to indulge – especially with a dollop of brandy butter.

Because it’s simple to make and can be prepared in advance, it’s a great dish to make with kids too, you can have fun using Christmas-themed cutters.

Here is their ultimate insider tip to succeed: To get the perfect flaky pastry for your mince pies, freeze the butter in advance and use a cheese grater to finely shred into a bowl (the bowl can be kept in the freezer whiles you prepare your dry ingredients).
